Yakuza 6: The Song of Life (April 17)
Best PS4 Games in April 2018
Yakuza has become a staple exclusive series for PlayStation over the last few years, and Yakuza 6: The Song of Life brings an end to Kazuma Kiryu’s long journey. Even though Yakuza 6 takes place directly after Yakuza 5, it makes a ton of changes. It’s the first game in the series to use the studio’s new “Dragon Engine,” which puts a big focus on seamlessness. This means that Kamurocho has been condensed a little bit, but there are no loading screens whenever you enter a battle or store. The engine also brings a big overhaul to the game’s graphics, and Yakuza 6 is an absolutely gorgeous game.
Even more changes come with overhauled combat and skills systems, as well as a host of new minigames. Yakuza 6 introduces a phenomenal cast of new characters, as Kiryu searches for the reason that his daughter, Haruka, was injured in a hit-and-run accident. It’s an emotional journey that wraps up many of the relationships Kiryu has built over the years, and we found Yakuza 6 to be one of the strongest entries in the series yet.
