Extinction has certainly drawn inspiration from the likes of Attack on Titan and Shadow of the Colossus, pitting you against colossal ogres hellbent on destroying the world. You play as Avil, a lone fighter standing against the hulking menaces.
Extinction comes from developer Iron Galaxy, the same studio that developed the most recent Killer Instinct, and it seems like they’ve brought some of that expertise over. The game sports a complex battle system that lets you zip around on the ground and in the air to hit weak points on the ogres. You’re given plenty of tools like double jumps, dashes, and even a hover ability to quickly make your way through the world and dispatch the beasts, before heading to the next point and taking down another one. It’s a fast game that looks like it’ll have a breakneck pace as you try to defend your homeland.
Extinction certainly has a novel concept. However, we’ll have to wait and see if Extinction can really follow through on the lofty concept it has.
