Gimme Back My Achievements!
So, you want to have a more dynamic experience with Cities: Skylines. Sounds great! You’ve acquired your mods of choice, installed them, and lo and behold – something’s gone terribly wrong. Your game’s achievements no longer work. But don’t fret!
An important mod that is highly recommended is the Mod Achievement Enabler. Normally, when installing and using mods in Cities:Skyline, it causes the game to disable all achievements. Once you have this mod installed, it will prevent achievements from being disabled by any other mods. This should warrant an achievement trophy of its own, shouldn’t it?

Got The Time, Ol’ Chap?
Did you lose track of how much time you’ve been spending building vista after vista of glass and steel monoliths? Are you too engrossed in the game to bother pressing Alt+Tab to check the clock? Then you should consider installing the Simple Clock mod to your client. It adds a 12 hour, or 24 hour, format clock at the bottom right hand corner of the game screen. The mod’s clock also remembers and keeps the settings marked by the user.

Need More Real Estate?
Like any ambitious, forward-thinking and progressive planner, you can’t expand your metropolis if you don’t have the space for it. Normally, you start the game only being able to purchase no more than 9 spaces/tiles of available land for city expansion. In order to unlock access to higher yields of land purchasing power, you need unlock or fulfill special milestones. This is the digital equivalent of governmental redtape and bureaucracy – it’s holding back you and your city’s potential! Well, no more! By installing the All Spaces Unlockable mod, you are instantly allowed to purchase the maximum amount of land (25 spaces/tiles) without having to do anything special in-game. Sounds like a bargain to me!

Treebeard Would Be So Happy
Let’s face it – you probably have a love/hate relationship with trees so far in this game. For one, trees are aesthetically pleasing and would probably factor significantly into your city plans (how else will your precious digital citizens have precious digital oxygen!?). By now, you may have caught on to the fact that the game only allows you to plant trees one by one. This tedious task can quickly eat up your precious build time. With the Tree Brush mod, however, you can use the editor brush to plant trees in bulk. The map editor’s functions allow you to increase or decrease the area of the brush. Ecological conservation has never been easier.

Finally – An In-Game Waze App
Even if you are still an omniscient and omnipotent creator of the greatest metropolitan center there ever was, micro-management is always a tricky business. Especially when comes to dealing with traffic issues. Fortunately, the Traffic Report Tool mod makes locating and managing traffic problems a very simple task. When selected, this tool offers three different modes to analyze traffic related inquiries: 1.) when selecting a specific vehicle, it shows the current path it is taking towards its destination, 2.) when selecting a specific road, it shows all vehicles using that street within the calculation of its designated route, and 3.) selecting a building will indicate the paths of vehicles that are entering and leaving it at that time. According to the modder, there may be instances where the game simulation may pause but assures that this is normal and your game is still functioning.

It’s Just Like That Demolition Scene From I, Robot… Except Without All The Robot Uprising Undertones
Just because Elon Musk and Stephen Hawking are extremely wary of artificial intelligence (*cough* SkynetTheMatrixGLaDOSHAL3000 *cough*) doesn’t mean that you have to be! Just imagine how much time and energy you could save if a friendly AI could head up an auto-demolition initiative in your city with absolutely no fuss on all buildings that are abandoned and/or destroyed by fire. That is exactly what you are getting with the Automatic Bulldoze mod. And never shall Will Smith or his feline friend be harmed in the process ever again.

CTRL+S! CTRL+S, DARN IT!
The fact that an auto-save function ISN’T part of the normal build and necessitates the existence of a mod to remedy it is absolutely beyond me. The worst feeling in the world is to lose all the hard work and time you’ve put in a flurry of inspiration. Like a sleep-deprived college student working on a term paper at the last minute, in the cataclysmic throes of a sudden system crash or some other ungodly technical calamity, auto-save is your friend – whether in Microsoft Word or in Cities: Skylines. With the Autosave mod, it will save your progress every five minutes and it is completely compatible with Steam Achievements.

Stop It, Cities: Skylines. This Isn’t Pitch Black.
It seems the creators of the game somehow think this game takes place on M6-117, cast in perpetual daylight due to the planet being surrounded by three orbiting suns. This isn’t the setting for a Riddick movie! You’ve done goofed. The reason why the game does not have a day/night cycle to begin with is another perplexing quandary. Thank goodness for the Day/Night mod which adds a configurable day and night cycle to the game engine.

How About A Nice Stroll Through The City?
Want to view the fruits of your labor from an entirely different point of view? You’re in luck! With the help of the First Person mod, you can walk / glide through the annals of the city and suburbs you have created with your bare hands, and to witness the comings and goings of everyday life. It can be likened to Creative Mode in Minecraft. To be honest, it feels like you are playing a completely different game. And with the help of the Dynamic Resolution mod, which normally boosts anti-aliasing and customizes resolution levels in-game, you can combine the effects of two mods for even clearer, sharper first person perspective graphics.

Go Away, Twitter Imposter!
Are you tired of that knock-off, Twitter-esque blue bird icon, the Chirper, invading your work space? As a city tycoon, you can’t be expected to be bothered with every single citizen “tweet” while you are concentrating on making the next modern marvel. Furthermore, those messages can get to be seriously annoying and old real quickly. Luckily for you, a pair of heroes has revealed themselves to provide you powerful weapons against the Great Enemy. By default, the Chirper icon is a fixed and static icon; with the Chirper Position Changer mod, you are able to click and drag the icon to any location on your monitor. However, if you are looking for a more permanent and drastic solution the Chirpy Exterminator modwill vanquish the vile creature and its notifications for you.

For All Practical Purposes, This Mod Pretty Much Allows You To Earth-Bend
The Extended Road Upgrade mod is a fantastic tool to give you greater utility and convenience in managing your traffic infrastructure. The mod adds a suite of new tools that allows you to upgrade one-way streets into two-way streets, and vice versa. This saves you the time and trouble of destroying and rebuilding roads, assuming they are the same types and counterparts. According the modder, this is still in an experimental phase so it is highly recommended to save your progress before executing the mod. Thank goodness you’ve already installed that auto-save mod, amirite?

Merlin’s Beard! Your Buildings Can Apparate!
That’s right, wizards and witches. Your buildings are imbued with magic! How so? Well, under normal circumstances, you are charged a fee to move and relocate buildings – which is often sure to be a common occurrence when building and improving city infrastructure. The costs can become exorbitant. But before you can even finish saying “Mischief Managed!” the magical effects of the Free Relocation mod will allow you to relocate your buildings to any new location absolutely for free! Now if only there’s a mod to enable you to build a Quidditch pitch…

Bring Out Your Dead! *ding*
Its’s tricky wearing so many hats when you’re the progenitor of a shining new urban paradise. Sometimes, small tedious errands like emptying garbage dumps or cemeteries falls through the cracks and builds up without you noticing it, until it reaches a state of emergency. If you are using Automatic Emptying mod though, it will automatically click the “empty building to another facility” to these locations at the point when they are about to fill up. Pretty nifty!

“Pollos Hermanos, where something delicious is always cooking.”
Perhaps being the subservient puppet of an alien empire is not your cup of tea. No, you are someone with dignity, a person who stands tall and answers to no one, a savant who rules and commands with unquestionable respect and obedience – even if that means you run a drug empire from the covert shadows of a fried chicken restaurant chain in the American Southwest. Your castle is not an alien monstrosity; it is the last one for the prying eyes of the law to suspect. Yes, my friends, you too can be Breaking Bad’s Gustavo Fring with this specific mod that allows you to build a replica of Los Pollos Hermanos. Just don’t let any loose cannon, ex-chemistry professors enter the premises though – that way only lies death and destruction. You’ve been warned!
