Battleborn isn’t just a single player experience; you’ll be able to take part in some multiplayer fun, too. One of the three modes you can play is Incursion. This is the most traditional “MOBA” mode for Battleborn. You’ll find points that can be captured, minions, towers to take down, and that back and forth dance you should be used to if you play games like Smite or League of Legends. It can get a bit confusing, though, and that quick intro before the match starts kind of just throws you into the fray. No worries, we’ll break it all down for you so you can know just what you’re doing in Battleborn’s Incursion.

The Main Thing You Must Do

In order to win Incursion, you’ll need to be the team that destroys the enemy Sentry Bots. These look like huge mechanical spiders that have overshields. You’ll see up top on your screen which Sentry Bots are still left standing and how much health they have. They both have a ton of shields, health, and they’re not scared of attacking you right back, so be careful.

These are basically the prizes you’ll want to keep your eyes on during the match. Defending your Sentry Bots and killing the enemy players is important, too, but you won’t win the game if you’re not destroying those Sentry Bots.

Minions Are Your Friends

Each team will have little squads of minions going forth through the battlefield, attempting to strike the opposing team’s defenses. It’s a good idea to move with your minion group, as being caught in the middle of enemy minions and players can be bad news. You’ll know how well you’re advancing by how far your minions are getting on the map.

They’re a big help, despite being easy to kill, as they’ll deal damage for as long as they’re alive on whatever enemy is in their way. This includes the enemy Sentry Bots. So, yeah, making sure you have a squad of minions rolling up into the enemy base to attack the target objective is a great game plan. Especially since they’re good distractions, while you unleash your attacks.

Buy Stuff

You’re able to buy turrets, healing stations, accelerators, and super minions all around the battlefield with your shards. Make use of this. There’s no point in hoarding shards, you can’t take them with you.

Set up Automatic Turrets where ever you see them as these will provide good defenses. Especially around your Sentry Bots, set those up immediately. While the enemy hasn’t managed to break through your lines yet, they might, and it’s better to be prepared if they do.

Accelerators will grant speed boosts to minions, so that’s their real benefit in Incursion. Get your minions across the field faster because the sooner they make it somewhere, the more you advance. Who cares if your teammates are sped up, am I right?

Healing Stations are a blessing after a fire fight. If you don’t want to have to teleport back to your base, you’ll be grateful to have a healing station right nearby that you can just stand next to.

Super Minions are a great idea if you’re finding that your minions are getting wrecked too early. These take extra damage and will make your advancement far more effective as they have an increase in attack, too.

Hire Mercenaries For Sure

Mercenary Thralls are big beasts with a lot of health and a scary sword. They’re hellbent on messing up the enemy, but only if you hire them first. On the left and right side of the battlefield, you’ll find Mercenary Thrall encampments. Hire a thrall to join your forces by standing on the encampment long enough for the meter to be filled. Congratulations, you now have one scary ass buddy to attack the enemy with. They will go right for enemy players and the Sentry Bots, so they’re definitely a good idea to really bring on the offense for your team.

Other Tips

Make sure your team composition works. You wouldn’t want a full team of ranged people, right? That would be silly. A balanced team is part of a healthy victory in Incursion. Sometimes this can’t be helped if you’re playing with random people online, but try your best to make sure you have attackers, healers, and defenders.

Roll with your minions! Trust us, this will lead to a better push than if you went in alone.

Take advantage of how long it will take your enemy to respawn after death and make your big pushes during these moments with your team.

And, finally, don’t forget that if you’re hurt very badly, you can teleport back to your base and chill out for a bit to heal. Sure, this will send you all the way back from where you are, but it’s better than dying and having to wait a minute to respawn.

With these tips, you’ll be on your way to victory in Battleborn’s Incursion mode! Get out there and take down those Sentry Bots! If you need any other help with Battleborn, check out our wiki!
