Gurren Lagaan’s art book will have over 350 illustrations and 488 pages of characters, designs, and information, which are all drawn by character designer Atsushi Nishigori. This will include plenty of storyboards and even some pages that are filled out fully in color.

Below, we’ve included some of the sample pages so you can get an idea of what the book will look like.

For anyone that has never seen Gurren Lagann, the show’s Facebook page offers the following description:

In the future, humans live underground. Shy and naive Simon meets the brash Kamina, who believes a “surface” world exists above their village. One day the ceiling collapses – a gigantic “Gunmen” and the beautiful girl Yoko with a big gun drop in.

Anyone interested in getting a copy of the Gurren Lagann artbook themselves can pre-order it via Amazon Japan here for 4,400 yen ($39.46), with a release date set for Aug. 13, 2021.
