Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore Trailer Shows Off Mads Mikkelsen as a Badass Grindelwald

Love it or hate it, the Harry Potter spinoff movie series Fantastic Beasts is here to stay. Titled The Secrets of Dumbledore, this is the third installment of the Fantastic Beasts sub-series and Warner Brothers has just released the first official trailer for it.

We see some familiar faces, including the return of Newt as the main protagonist and Jacob. We also get a few glimpses of Mads Mikkelsen, who’s been tapped to play the villainous Grindelwald. The character had previously been played by Johnny Depp, but he stepped down from the role after getting embroiled in controversy. Mikkelsen seems poised to deliver a much more grounded take on Grindelwald, and it should prove to be interesting to watch at the very least.

The movie also takes us back to Hogwarts, revisiting several iconic locations like the Room of Requirement. Finally, Jacob also gets a wand, courtesy of Dumbledore, which seems absolutely asinine. But hey, it’s JK’s rules right?

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is set to air in theaters in April 2022.
