How to Unlock Upgrades Fast in Yakuza Kiwami
Yakuza Kiwami uses a very similar battle system to that of Yakuza Zero, allowing you to swap between four different battle styles on the fly. This also means you’ll have access to four different upgrade trees throughout the game, each of which has 48 different upgrades to unlock. The basic three trees for Beast, Brawler, and Rush mode can all be unlocked by gaining experience and levels. Leveling works a little differently in Kiwami, however, as each level is really just a point to spend on abilities, and doesn’t do anything else. Kazuma Kiryu’s ultimate style, Dragon, can only be upgraded by leveling your meter in Majima Everywhere and fighting him repeatedly. We’ll try and give you some tips for both.
There are a lot of different ways to gain experience in Yakuza Kiwami, as you get it every time you fight anyone, whenever you eat, and for completing certain objectives. Completing the many substories in Kiwami is the easiest way of getting XP to upgrade your abilities. Oftentimes completing these can reward you with huge amounts of XP, not to mention anyone you might have to fight to complete the substory. At the same time, make sure you’re keeping up with Majima Everywhere. Every time you fight Majima you’ll get a healthy amount of XP, not to mention you’ll be working towards upgrading your Dragon style. You’ll also be heftily rewarded with experience in the story for beating certain bosses, so make sure not to ignore the story while you run around Kamurocho. As long as you shoot to do all of these things you shouldn’t have any problem accumulating enough experience.
With the Dragon style, Yakuza Kiwami pretty well explains how to level things up with Majima Everywhere. The thing to keep an eye out for with this is that Majima will play you in minigames as well, so you’ll want to make sure to play them while you’re trying to level up the gauge. Abilities are linked to playing him in Pocket Circuit Racer, MesuKing, darts, and Bowling. Certain abilities for Dragon are also gained by training with Komaki in Purgatory, but you’ll need to purchase certain pictures from the Purgatory arena for him to teach you. The easiest way to do this is to knock the difficulty down to easy then fight your way through all of the tournaments. It should only take you a couple hours to get all the points you’ll need to learn every Komaki ability for Dragon.
