XCOM 2 isn’t just a turn-based strategy game, it also has a ton of management mechanics. You’ll be able to build facilities, research technology, recruit soldiers, and more. One of the most important currencies in the game are the supplies.

You’ll be using supplies to build up facilities, recruit soldiers, build items, and many more vital actions. So, yeah, they’re pretty important to the game. You’ll get a steady line of supplies noted by the “Income” on the top right of your HUD. This gets added to your total over time, so you can just pass the time to get some more. This is the easiest way to get it, but do keep in mind that passing time, while crucial for finishing research or building, means missions can be failed and Dark Events happen faster.

Make Contact

When you’re looking at the map on the bridge, you’ll notice that you can make contact with other parts of the world. This takes up time and intel, but it’s very worth it. Making more and more contacts allows you to get the resistance bonus for the continents as well as earn more supplies as part of your income. You need the Resistance Comms in your base to be able to make more contacts than the initial limit you’re given.

Install Radio Relays

Once you’ve made contact as previously suggested, you have the option to build a Radio Relay. Well, this is provided that you’ve researched the proper technology. However, it’s one of the first things the game makes you research to advance, so don’t worry about it. With Radio Relays, you spend supplies in order to increase that Resistance’s regular collection of supplies. Hey, ya gotta spend money to make money.

Supply Drops

Your best bet for fast supplies will be supply drops. It’s recommended that, unless you have something else that’s very important to complete, you make your way over to a supply drop location whenever they pop up on the Bridge map. You’ll get a good bulk of supplies and also a couple of turns of more supplies added to your income.

The Black Market

xcom 2

The Black Market in XCOM 2 appears after a certain point on the map and you need to go to its location and scan for it to be able to use it from then on. Within the Black Market, you’re able to trade for different things with your Intel. Also, you can sell inventory for more Intel. A big use of the Black Market with supplies is that you can buy them by trading Intel for them. Very useful if you find yourself with an influx of Intel but too little supplies.

Clear Out Your Base

Supplies also come from excavating certain parts of the base in XCOM 2. Once you have engineers to excavate some areas, not only will you increase the space around your base to build in, you’ll also be rewarded with a bit of supplies.

Now that you know the best ways to get supplies, don’t waste them and always keep some left over to recruit soldiers after you no doubt lose them in action (it costs 25 supplies to recruit).
