Old Man Recipe – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Recommended Videos

Early on while playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you’ll come across a cabin near the Temple of Time with the Old Man’s journal. The journal will talk about an old recipe (the Old Man recipe) he had that helped fight the cold, giving resistance for an extended period of time. Unfortunately, he can only remember two of the ingredients – Raw Meat and Spicy Peppers, both of which you can find nearby the journal and in the surrounding area – but he can’t remember the third ingredient for some reason. The name of the recipe is Spicy Meat and Seafood Fry, which gives a clue as to what the third ingredient of the Old Man Recipe is: fish.

If you combine Raw Meat, Spicy Peppers, and Raw Bass (which can be found in the ponds in the area), it will make the Old Man recipe. Take that plate of food and head back to the cabin (if you happened to cook it elsewhere) and wait until nighttime for the Old Man to appear. When he does, talk to him and he’ll ask you to cook something. Since you’ve already cooked the meal, you can give it to him then and there, at which point he will thank you for completing the Old Man recipe, and give you the Warm Doublet since he no longer needs it. The Warm Doublet gives you complete resistance to the cold of Mount Hylia of Breath of the Wild.
