Valheim, the viking themed survival RPG, has been making waves since it launched into early access on Steam. While you’re able to explore the procedurally generated worlds with friends, fighting and surviving together, it’s understandable that some people will be wondering whether you can play Valheim in single-player. Well, we’ve got everything you need to know.
Can You Play Valheim in Single-player?
In short, yes you can, but as with every game that’s multiplayer first and foremost, you’re going to miss out somewhat by playing alone.
Valheim is built to be a co-operative experience, with a gang of friends tackling the world together and doing everything they can to survive. However, the developers have made it so that you’re not at a disadvantage by playing alone.
The bosses and general enemies scale in power depending on how many people are in a squad, so you’re going to find it just as tough to take on the boss in The Forest biome with four friends as you would on your lonesome. Also, none of the crafting, foraging, or exploration mechanics require more than one pair of hands. In those areas, you’re simply not missing out by playing Valheim in single-player.
How you are going to miss out is on the tactical approach to combat as a crew and helping each other to stay alive as long as possible.
If you’re only able to play Valheim on your own and you’re worried that it won’t be worth your time, don’t be, it’s a fun single-player experience. If you can find friends to play with, that’s great, but they’re far from vital.
That’s it for whether you can play Valheim in single-player. For more tips and tricks on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
