How to Make Elixirs – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Potions have always been a staple of this action/adventure franchise, as they were incredibly useful for restoring one’s health or mana in a battle. This has been slightly altered as potions, now called elixirs, offer players status increasing effects as base defensive buffs or elemental resistance. In order to obtain these items, you will need to craft them via the cooking mechanic in Breath of the Wild, as Link will be using a variety of ingredients. To help you out, this guide will walk you through how to make elixirs.
What you need to make this item is food, monster parts, and critters all of which can be found out in the wilderness. Monster parts are easy enough, as you will obtain these after defeating a foe, so make sure to check around the area after an intense fight. While these are fairly common, you’ll want to have as many as possible. Critters are just Breath of the Wild’s name for bugs and small reptiles, all of which can be captured by Link to use in his brewing. There’s also food, found by climbing trees, killing animals, or harvesting herbs. After getting the needed items you then need to go into the Materials tab in the menu, click the items, and select hold. Then toss the ingredients into the metal bowl to have them mix and cook together.
After a few seconds, a brand new elixir will be all yours to use whenever you choose just make sure to read the description so you know what the status effects will be. You do not need to have empty bottles to create elixirs as they will be created once the process is finished. Do not mix status effects as Zelda: Breath of the Wild will not stack elixir effects and you’ll end up wasting the other status items. Try to always go into a tough fight with a few elixirs as you never know which may save your life in a fight.
