What Rings Do in Team Sonic Racing

In each and every race in Team Sonic Racing, you’ll find rings scattered around, laid out in rows or grouped together. You’ll want to collect as many of these as possible in every race, as they have both an immediate and prolonged effect.

Rings function exactly like coins do in Mario Kart, increasing your top speed with the more you have. It’s not a drastic effect, but collecting more and more will give you a slight advantage in the race.

Keep in mind, just like the usual Sonic game, if you’re hit by something or run into a dangerous obstacle you’ll lose all of the rings you’ve collected. This means it’s very important to try and avoid as many obstacles as you can, in order to keep your top speed up.

Outside of your speed, rings also affect your score at the end of each race, which in turn, leads to collecting more credits. The more you have, the more credits you’ll get at the end of a race, letting you purchase Mods.

Best Ways to Collect Rings

Like we said earlier, rings are generally grouped in rows on the track. They’re actually set up perfectly for you to drift through, so that’s generally going to be how you want to collect them. It might take a bit of practice to get the drifting down right, of course.

On top of this, whenever you hit an enemy with an item they’ll drop a bunch of their rings. This lets you drive right by them and snatch their stock up.

There’s one other good way of collecting a bunch of rings, and that’s with the Void power up. This purple item is fairly rare to get from Item Boxes, but if you do get one it’ll pop a black hole right above your head.

The black hole sucks in anything and everything that gets near you, including rings. So it’s best to use the power-up when you know you’re coming up a bunch of rings.
