Checkpoints – Super Mario Maker 3DS

Recommended Videos

Checkpoints are a handy little building tool in Super Mario Maker, that lets you plop a checkpoint down anywhere on your course in case whoever’s playing it dies.

Checkpoints are actually unlocked right from the get-go in the 3DS version of Super Mario Maker. Just open your item menu by tapping the arrow at the top of the screen, go down to the third row, and select the Bowser flag. Set it down wherever you want on your course, of course, make sure the player can actually reach it.

Now whenever someone is playing the course they can run into the flag and switch it to a Mario flag, making a checkpoint in the process. Now if they fail to reach the end of your level, they won’t have to start all the way from the beginning.
