The barren wasteland of a zombie apocalypse is an unforgiving place, and State of Decay 2 ensures every venture out of your base is a test of your survival and combat skills. Guns and melee weapons can be found all over the world, but they’ve got durability, and not all of them are all that great. As such, some players may be wondering if you can upgrade weapons in the game.

Well, you kind of can upgrade weapons, and you kind of can’t. There are a few methods you can improve your guns, such as equipping mods in the form of suppressors, chokes, or muzzles, but that’s it. All of your melee weapons in State of Decay 2 will stay as they are, and you’ll only be able to repair them with spare parts when they become damaged or break completely. While you can’t upgrade weapons outside of these mods in State of Decay 2, there are plenty of powerful weapons just waiting to be found in the game. Be sure to check with traveling traders as and when they pop up in your quest log, as they’ll have assault rifles that can make light work of even the largest hordes of zombies.
