How to Reinforce Your Troops in Ni No Kuni 2 Skirmishes

Recommended Videos

More than just learning the nuances of Ni No Kuni 2’s battle system, there’s another completely separate combat mechanic in the game that’s huge fun: skirmishes. These battles see Evan and his commanders take to the fields of battle with squads of troops, overcoming bandit forces and rival armies. It’s a sort of Clash of Clans-like strategy experience in which you’ll take on different enemy unit types and capture certain objectives. Evan has two, four, or five units surrounding him depending on what level you’re at, divided into melee or ranged types, and each with their own special abilities.

Although the skirmishes start off very easy, they do increase in difficulty throughout. But because of the lack of challenge initially, you won’t have had to – or even know that you were able to – reinforce your troops during battle. Later in the game, as these skirmishes become tougher, it’s absolutely essential. In order to do so, you’ll need to hold Circle. Reinforcing will drain military might in the process, so make sure you’re managing how much you have. Don’t simply spam the Circle button.

Note that once your squad is destroyed, you won’t be able to reinforce it. You can only reinforce squads whose leader is still alive. That being said, if it is a more lengthy skirmish with multiple objectives and enemies, once you’ve reached a given checkpoint or achieved a certain objective, you are often able to completely revive a squad if you have enough military might.

That’s everything you need to know about how to reinforce your troops during a skirmish in Ni No Kuni 2. For more useful guides on the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki.
