A Potion of Strength in Minecraft will give you the ‘Strength’ effect which increases the amount of damage you’ll deal when attacking mobs or other players by 130%. In this guide, we’ll talk you through how to make a Potion of Strength in Minecraft, as well as how to make its effects last even longer.
Making a Strength Potion in Minecraft
To make a Potion of Strength, you’ll first need to make sure you’ve got a Brewing Stand. You’ll also need the following materials and items:
- 1 Nether Wart
- 1 Blaze Powder
- 1 Water Bottle
Place the Blaze Powder in the far left box when you interact with your Brewing Stand and reach the menu. This will activate the stand so you can make potions.
Next, place your Water Bottle in any of the three boxes at the bottom. If you want to make three strength potions, place a water bottle in each box.
After that, you’ll need to add your Nether Wart. Move it from your inventory into the top box. You now need to wait for the progress arrow on the right to completely fill white and the Nether Wart to disappear.
Finally, add your Blaze Powder to the top box and let the arrow fill white again. Once its disappeared, you should now have a Potion of Strength (3:00) in your water bottle/s. Move this to your inventory and then you’re free to use it whenever you want.
Using the potion will grant you the 130% buff to your attack damage for three minutes.
How to Make Your Strength Potion Last Even Longer
You can make your Strength Potion last for eight minutes instead of three minutes by adding Redstone Dust to your Potion of Strength (3:00).
To do this, open your Brewing Stand and again activate it by placing Blaze Powder in the far left-hand box.
Next, place your Potion of Strength (3:00) in one of the bottom boxes, and put your Redstone Dust in the top box. Wait for the Redstone to disappear and you’ll now have a Potion of Strength (8:00) which is far more useful.
