The Hunt

About halfway through the second act – also known as The Hunt – of Layers of Fear 2, you’ll reach an area known as the mechanical laboratory. Here, you’ll find a handful of interesting mannequins.

In total, there are four mannequins: three in front of switches and one in front of a clock. Before you do anything with them, you’ll need to head through the door on the left.

After you go through the door, you’ll eventually come to a ladder. At the bottom, you’ll pass some swaying bodies that lead you to some gears.

To solve this puzzle, simply hold each button down till its corresponding gears match up. When you have one side lined up, use the lever on the left to control the other orientation until you have the picture below.

After completing this puzzle, head back up the ladder and into the room with the mannequins. Approach the one standing in front of the clock.

When you walk up to the clock, the mannequin falls dead in front of it, signifying the start to the next puzzle. Now it is time for some math.

The Clock Puzzle

For this puzzle, you’ll have to slowly rotate the hand on the clock to correctly add up to the numbers that are indicated on the left side of the screen. Below, we have detailed the exact sequence you need to fill out in order to get it correct:

• 0 > 8: 8
• 12 > 38: 10 + 9 + 7
• 24 > 70: 10 + 9 + 8 + 7 + 6 + 5 + 1

It is important to note that going over the required number causes you to start over.

After completing this, the narrator will begin speaking, stating “Time marches on. Death turns to decay.” Pick up the flower in front of you and you’ve successfully completed the clock puzzle and earned the A Beautiful Mind achievement or trophy.
