How to Beat Fireclaws Easily in Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds
The Frozen Wilds brings an assortment of new content for players to check out. However, as the highlight of the base game, a lot of players are excited to take on some new machines. Fireclaws are some of the most ferocious you can come across in The Frozen Wilds, but luckily for you, we’ve come up with a handy method to make taking them down much easier.
First off, it’s worth noting that Fireclaws, as their name suggests, are pretty strong to fire, so don’t even bother pelting their bodies with this ammo in the hope the burn damage will chip away at their health. Instead, you’ll want to try and freeze Fireclaws, slowing them down and also preventing them from using their ranged fire attacks. You’ll always want to keep your distance when taking on Fireclaws, as they can easily overwhelm Aloy with their size and send her to her doom with a matter of swipes.
With some ranged attacks disabled, Fireclaws are much easier to take down. Next, you’ll want to try and target the blaze canisters or any area on its body where you can see large amounts of the green-colored flammable with fire arrows. Any to the body, as we mentioned earlier, are useless, so you need to be accurate with your shots. Make the blaze canisters explode, and you’ll deal heavy damage to the machine.
With the blaze canisters taken care of, you’ll now want to try and move around the back of the machine so you’ve got a clear sight of its Power Cell. Using shock arrows on this will trigger an explosion, electrifying anything in the area. This can be handy if you want to lay down heavy damage another way, but we prefer to target the power cell with Hardpoint or Precision arrows. Use R1 to ready three arrows in a single shot and be sure to hit L3 to slow down time. A direct hit will deal 400-500 damage depending on your ammo.
Following that, it’s just a case of rinse and repeating the process. The most important part of taking on Fireclaws in Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds is keeping your distance, so be sure to use the dodge ability and always be on the move. Also, make sure you’re all stocked up on restorative items just in case things don’t go to plan.
That’s all you need to know to beat Fireclaws easily in Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds. Be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki for more on the game.
