Is H1Z1 Free to Play?

The market for battle royale games has become fairly brutal in the last few years. With Fortnite setting the golden standard – not costing a single dime to play unless you want access to its other modes – it can be hard, sometimes bordering on impossible, for a competitor to enter the market with a paid game. Case in point is H1Z1, which initially launched at a price point of $19.99 upon launch (after many years as an early access title), but has since shifted to a free to play model in the face of decreasing concurrent users.

In the official statement from Daybreak Game Company, H1Z1 general manager Anthony Castoro said “we are very excited to announce that H1Z1 will be free to play starting today. Not only does this decision allow us to share our version of Battle Royale and Auto Royale with even more players, but it signifies the next step in making H1Z1 a must-watch esport. The Pro League is going to redefine esports when it kicks off in Las Vegas this April, and whether a person is an aspiring pro athlete or just wants to play with friends, we want everyone to have the chance to play the most competitive battle royale game.”

That’s all you need to know about whether H1z1 is free to play. For more information on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
