Just like the previous games in the series, Gears of War 4 tasks players with picking up a number of different collectibles on their mission against the Swarm. Ranging from the COG tags of fallen allies to newspaper cuttings, these collectibles will often provide a bit of extra backstory to the proceedings. Other times, they’re just extra bits to keep you coming back for more.
There are 50 collectibles to be found in Gears of War 4 all spread across the different acts in the game. Here are all of their locations below.
Prologue
#1 – The first collectible is a UIR security report which can be found in the very first part of the prologue where you’re retrieving the Hammer of Dawn from Aspho Fields. Once you’ve cleared out the turret nest with a grenade, head straight through and look for the room straight across from you as you head into the courtyard. The collectible is on the table.
#2 – From where you found the first collectible, turn to your right and head down. If you look over to your left you’ll see a large stone wall. Walk to the far side until you find the body of a fellow COG soldier. Their COG tags are the second collectible for you to grab.
#3 – This third collectible is found once you’ve taken down the turret nest and opened the door to the next area. The enemy will run out of a locked door that opens as you approach. Don’t just take them down and continue on, head inside and turn left to find the third collectible hanging on the wall.
#4 – This one is found in the next section of the prologue where you’re fighting the Corpser. As you’re looking at the huge creature, look over to your left and you should see a little shack of a building. Head inside here to find collectible number four waiting for you.
#5 – In the same chapter, run past the van with the Hammer of Dawn in and up the stairs. Turn left and keep running down here until you find the body next to a pillar. Grab their COG tags for collectible five.
#6 – This collectible can easily be missed. Rather than climbing straight up the ladders in the third chapter of the prologue, instead turn left and look to the left of the tank. There’s a set of COG tags on the floor, but there’s no body nearby. Look out for the flash on the floor to spot them.
#7 – Before chainsawing through the doorway to help defend the wall, quickly look at the table to your right. The collectible is on here.
Act I
#8 – This collectible can be found at the very start when first dealing with a Windflare. When you shoot the barricade to free the pipes, you’ll open up the way ahead of you. Rather than proceeding straight ahead once you’ve climbed the ramp, turn right to find the collectible hidden away between a bunch of crates.
#9 – After you’ve headed through the door and come face to face with a worker robot, look for the room to your left to find the collectible on top of some palettes.
#10 – Continue on until you reach Embry Street, it looks a little like an L and has the number 2 plastered on the gates you’ll see. Head straight into the building on the corner and look for a document on the shelf. The collectible is this.
#11 – When you’re in the Maternity Annex, head straight through until you find a pamphlet sitting on a table between two green chairs.
#12 – After leaving the Maternity Annex, kill all of the DeeBees in the street and head left. Go up the first set of stairs to your left and you’ll find a leaflet stuck to the right of the door on the wall.
#13 – In the next chapter of Act I, you’ll be heading downstairs in search of the Fabricator. When you’ve found the Fabricator look for a glowing computer screen to the left. This is the collectible.
#14 – Once you’ve retrieved the Fabricator you’ll come to a courtyard area which will be filled with a ton of enemies. You’ll enter the courtyard via a set of steps on the right-hand side. Once all enemies are taken care of, head all the way to the left and turn left again up some steps toward a bench. The collectible is just here.
#15 – When you’re at the settlement, you’ll be tasked with taking the Fabricator to the Town Hall. Before you drop it down, grab the collectible on the pillar to the left of the Town Hall door.
#16 – Next you’ll want to move away from the Town Hall, again before dropping the Fabricator into place and look for a stack of hay bales. Head up the stairs just next to these and the collectible is on the floor next to the chair.
#17 – Before heading back to the town hall, look at it and go as far left as you can. You should see a set of stairs leading up to another area. Head up here and pick the collectible up off the floor next to the chair. That rounds off the collectibles in Act I.
Act II
#18 – Collectible number 18 is in the first chapter of act II. Right next to an iron gate in the corner of the garden area you’re dropped into will be the collectible.
#19 – Once you’ve left the house and beaten the enemies. Head behind the barn to find the collectible up against the wall.
#20 – Head back into the house through the large doors and head into the dark room in the back left corner. You’ll find the collectible shining away in here.
#21 – Once you’ve taken care of the helicopter. Head into the room next to the armory and you’ll find a collectible on the right-hand side.
#22 – Before you head into the escape tunnel in the cellars, look for the collectible on a table on the left-hand side.
#23 – After the barrel shed is destroyed, go left from where you start to find a bottle next to some big barrels. This is your 23rd collectible of the campaign so far.
#24 – Collectible 24 is an old toy figurine. For this one, you’ll need to take the riverside route when given the two routes to take. Head straight on instead of turning left to engage in a battle and you’ll find the collectible in the corner.
#25 – Gears of War 4’s 25th collectible is on the other side from the riverside route. Look in the back of a pickup truck to find the collectible. It’s best to choose the riverside route and then just to run back before proceeding. That way you can get both the 24th and 25th collectible in one.
Act III
#26 – At the very start of act III, before you head through the gate, head to the left and underneath the tree is a COG tag waiting for you to grab.
#27 – Once you’ve gone inside and have stepped on the exploding growth on the floor. Head to the very end of this corridor and on the desk you’ll find this collectible.
#28 – In the next chapter, after you’re ambushed when you think the coast is clear, head left through the door and the collectible is on a crate.
#29 – After this, head inside the house. You’ll then kick through a door to head outside again and get a quick look at what you’re chasing. Instead of following the path round to the left. Head right to find collectible number 29 on the floor.
#30 – When you’re in the courtyard with the statue of the man in the middle, look over to the left-hand side and you should find a bench under some cover. Gears of War 4’s 30th collectible is on this bench.
#31 – After the tram ride, head straight on through the door of goo and continue forward. Follow the path around, jumping over the cover and climbing the small sets of stairs. At the top of this little platform, you’ll find the collectible sat next to a bin.
#32 – In the courtyard where you first begin to see sinkholes appearing, go forward over the bridge and then take the first left into a building to find an Evacuation Procedures pamphlet on the wall.
#33 – Continue on until you catch a glimpse of the creature on the crumbling roof. Head up the stairs just to your left which will take you into an archway under cover. The collectible is right by the rubble blocking off the stairs.
#34 – When you come across the drawbridge and portcullis, drop under it and head all the way down this corridor, up the stairs and to the back of the room is a small wall you can jump over. Just behind here is a COG tag ready for you to grab.
#35 – When you drop down a hole to a lower level in the catacombs, turn right, head up the small set of steps, and the collectible is in the corner on the right.
#36 – Once you’ve used the chains with one of your teammates to lift the gate, look in the far right corner of the room near the door. You should find a silver age dagger on the side which is collectible number 36 in Gears of War 4.
#37 – The next chapter will see you using a transporter to navigate this area. From the main transporter controls, turn around and you’ll find the collectible in a small room ahead and to your right.
#38 – As soon as chapter six starts of act III, head left once the cutscene has finished. head down the small flight of stairs and look for the crystallized rock. Investigate it for collectible 38.
#39 – Finally, head toward the mining facility and defeat the Juvies and the Snatcher in the room. Open up a room and the team will make a comment on the weapons cache. Just behind the crates running down the left wall as you enter is the last collectible of this chapter.
Act IV
#40 – Collectible number 40 can be found in the first chapter of act IV. When you hop down and jump over a barrier, head left and you’ll find the collectible hiding behind the crate.
#41 – In the chapter No Detours, you’ll jump down off a ledge at the start. Follow the path until you see a large gear on the left. Next to it is a dead COG soldier. Grab their tags for collectible 41.
#42 – The next collectible is in the next chapter and once you’ve climbed up a few ladders you’ll find yourself in a courtyard. Clear the area and then walk into the first doorway on your left. Rather than climbing the stairs, take a right and in the corner next to some blue barrels you’ll find it waiting to be added to your collection.
#43 – In the next chapter, you’ll make your way through some giant gears and will need the help of one of your team to press two red buttons simultaneously to get through a door. Head through the door and into the hallway and then take your first left. Make your way to the furthest side of the power controls in the middle of the room to find the set of COG tags.
#44 – When you find yourself in the room with the giant chains, head straight on and then take a left. On the yellow crates by the wall is collectible number 44.
#45 – During the chapter ‘Storm Warning’ as soon as you enter the substation, look for a door on the wall to your right. Head through it and turn left to find some COG tags on top of a desk next to the remains of the owner.
#46 – In the room where you shoot the coils to open the door, head through and up the stairs ahead of you. Turn left and follow the walkway round and into the room ahead of you with all of the screens. Turn left and then you’ll see a room blocked off by a small wall you can hop over. Jump on through to find a letter next to a fallen COG soldier. That marks the final collectible Act IV of Gears of War 4.

#48 – During the same chapter, on your way to the radio tower follow the right wall. Head down the steps to your left which are highlighted by yellow markings on the floor and straight up the steps on the other side. Turn right and then left. The collectible is on the control panel in this room.
#49 – In the chapter titled Killing Time, once you’ve dropped down onto the van in the alleyway. Head forward and under the arch. Turn right and you should see a room that looks like a workshop. The collectible is on the table in this room.
#50 – For the final collectible in Gears of War 4, you don’t have to do anything. This will be added to your collection automatically following the final events.
