BattleTech: Is There Character Creation?

Recommended Videos

BattleTech tasks players with commanding a team of weaponized Battlemechs. It features a compelling sci-fi story peppered with political intrigue and awesome set-pieces. There’s a heavy emphasis on story, with a rich and dense lore present from the get-go. This first presents itself during the character creation section at the start of the game. It’s refreshingly deep, but simple enough so that players won’t get overwhelmed with options.

The first thing you’ll be asked to do is choose a House. Each one features its own set of stat bonuses and character traits. Be sure to take the time to read through each option, as you’ll get a boost in certain stats with each one. From here, it is a case of choosing your story. You get to choose from a variety of options which flesh out your character’s backstory. Some offer the player the chance to take on the role of a rogue member of a wealthy family, who joined up with space pirates. Others have them following a more military-focused path. Once again, each choice helps build out your stats, so choose wisely.

After the lore is established, you get to the more traditional character creation section. Here you can choose which pronoun you’d like to be referred to with, your call sign, name and even the exact camera angle for your character icon. You can pick clothing, scars, tattoos and make-up, with pre-made options also available. Once you’re ready to go, you’ll be taken to an overview page and then on to the main game. There is no way to rebuild your character so make sure you have the build you’d like to use.

We’re going to be bringing you more tips and tricks for BattleTech this week so stay tuned for our upcoming wiki guide.
