This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Even though it has been ten years since the original Borderlands graced our screens, the mod community is still going strong with some pretty awesome ones that change up the entire game.

Check out our list of some of the best Borderlands mods right here; we promise that at least one of them will tickle your fancy. And if you’re looking for mods for Borderlands 2, then you can also check that out right here.

Gun Creator

If you’ve played Borderlands at all, then you know that this looter shooter is, of course, all about the vast array of guns available for purchase or to just find laying around in chests.

Each gun is unique, having different points towards stats like reload speed, damage output, accuracy, zoom, magazine size, and much more. How cool would it be if you were somehow able to create your own special gun with the stats of your choice?

Well, with this “Make Your Own Weapon” mod, now you can. You can have a gun with top reload speed and top damage output, destroying any creature that stands before you.

You might end up breaking the game somehow if you crank up all of the stats to their peak points, but if you play around with the settings, we’re sure that you can make some awesome guns to switch back and forth with. But hey, if you and your friends wanna wreck everything in your path as an unbeatable squad, now you can.

“Ultimate” Mod

Sitting through opening loading screens, splash screens, and menus just to start up your save game file in Borderlands can be quite a nuisance, the same goes for most games as a matter of fact. If only there were a way to skip all of that nonsense and jump right into your game upon startup.

Okay, so here is the deal. This Borderlands Ultimate mod lets you do all sorts of things to make the gameplay experience way more hassle-free. You can remove the NVIDIA and 2K logo placements, which makes the game start faster; you can take out the cutscenes at the beginning of the game, and you can switch to a new splash screen.

It may not seem like a lot, but once you save yourself a minute upon startup every single time, it all adds up. You’ll be saving boatloads of time at the end of the day, and will have more time for cracking skulls.

Doomdocks Map

Ever wanted to fight a zombie-infested horde with your partners in Borderlands? The Doomdocks mod is a zombie-themed set of maps that place on a dockside, cargo ship, and riverbank.

The mod plays like Left 4 Dead or Call of Duty Zombies in which the only objective is to simply survive and not get eaten by waves of zombies.

The mod is entirely playable online, so don’t worry about facing the terrors alone. But if you do decide to check out this mod all by yourself, there are actually NPC’s on the map that will fight alongside you, keeping you safe from harm.

Sound Fix

Apparently, PC users have noticed several audio issues while playing the remastered version of Borderlands. The audio seems to be overcompressed, causing the sound to be of low quality.

Thanks to this sound enhancement modification, all of the audio streams have been replaced with the original from the 2009 version of the game.

Hopefully the devs can fix this issue one day, but for now, this mod will fix that right up for you so that you can enjoy Borderlands to its full extent.

Enemy-Controlling Revolver

Yup, this Holy Revolver (blessed by Sleep Master himself) turns enemy creatures into your friends, guardians, and protectors, instead of adversaries.

By shooting a monster, you can convert enemies so that they attack other enemies around the area. The Holy Revolver weapon mod might not work all of the time, but with this gun, you can turn the tide in any dangerous situation – it even works on bosses!

The accuracy of the gun is also set to 100%, so it might be hard to miss the enemy unless you are literally not even aiming properly at them. But, if you are a good shoot, then playing around with this magical revolver will keep you entertained for a while. You can even bring it out during multiplayer sessions and impress your buddies – just pretend that you found it in a super secret place.
