35 of the Rarest Limited Edition Consoles (Rare Gaming Consoles)

Good luck finding any of these.

Limited Edition Video Game Consoles are meant to be special pieces of memorabilia that are hard to find, but these consoles are extremely rare. Here are some of the rarest limited edition gaming consoles around.

Rare Limited Edition Gaming Consoles

Here are 30 of the rarest limited edition consoles that you probably haven’t even seen. These are the creme de la creme of rare and would go for quite a ton if you happened to have your hands on one, by the way.

Men in Black PlayStation

Licensed games based on movies rarely hit a home run, and this Men in Black Limited Edition PlayStation isn’t taking any “best in show” prizes home, either. It isn’t known how many of these consoles were released, but no doubt they are rare.

10 Million Model PlayStation

Sony’s original PlayStation is one of the best-selling consoles of all time. In order to commemorate the first 10 Million units sold, Sony released a limited-run black version of their console.

Ceramic White PlayStation 2

The PlayStation 2 did away with the classic gray of the original console and produced their second console in black. When Gran Turismo Prologue launched 2002, a limited-edition ceramic white console was released.

This special edition PlayStation 3 was dipped in 24-karat gold by computer-choppers.com. They produced 5 of these consoles which sold for $5000 each.

Atari Xbox

Only one of these Atari-branded Xboxes were produced, making it extremely rare. The console pictured here was given away at the Leipzig Game Convention in 2004.

Beatles Xbox 360

In order to celebrate the launch of Beatles Rockband and raise some money for Doctors Without Borders, Harmonix produced and auctioned off 50 of these special edition Xbox 360s.

300 (Movie) Xbox 360

Only 20 of these limited-edition Xbox 360s were produced to celebrate the release of the Spartan movie, 300.

Purple Xbox 360 Slim From Taco Bell

Recently, Taco Bell has joined forces with PlayStation for exclusive giveaways. However, in Canada in 2012, Taco Bell ran an exclusive contest for this purple Xbox 360 slim. Winners also received a copy of Halo 4.

“I Made This” Xbox One

Microsoft has since released a retail version of the white console, but anyone who wanted one prior to its release had to have worked on the development of the console itself. This special-edition Xbox One console features a white finish with a decal on the front stating “I made this.”

White Sega Game Gear

Only 10,000 of the 11 million Sega Game Gear units sold feature this white color scheme. This special edition console came in a white case and featured a white television tuner.

“This is Cool” Sega Saturn

The Sega Saturn had a myriad of color options available, at least in Japan: white, grey, black, charcoal, and light grey.  The coolest option, however is the “This is Cool” Sega Saturn, which featured a translucent smoke casing and matching controller.

Resident Evil CODE: Veronica Sega Dreamcast – STAR Edition

This pinkish, translucent console is the second of the Resident Evil CODE: Veronica consoles to launch. This one isn’t quite as rare as the STARS edition, but there were still only 1200 produced.

Maziora Sega Dreamcast

Maziora paint is the sparkling paint that is most often used to add a bit of pizzazz to a car. Sega used it to make a Dreamcast look like a mood ring. This special edition console only saw 500 units released into the wild.

Game Boy Advance SP Famicom Color

The original Famicom featured a red and white color design, and Nintendo brought that same design to the Game Boy Advance SP Famicom Color. Only 3000 of these were made, and they were given away by Club Nintendo.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Nintendo Gamecube

This limited edition Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Gamecube was just as obscure as the game that it was made in honor of. This all-white console only saw 150 units come to market.

Gold-Plated Nintendo Wii

There is only one way to get this gold-plated Nintendo Wii, and that is to sit on the throne of England. This special edition console was given to Queen Elizabeth herself. Perhaps she enjoys a nice game of Wii Bowling.

Donkey Kong Country Game Boy Advance SP

Only 1000 of these banana-yellow Game Boy Advance SPs were made to celebrate the launch of Donkey Kong Country.

Chinatown Wars DS Lite

Here is another Nintendo console featuring a not-so-kid-friendly franchise. Though it appears black in the photo, this console is actually dark blue and red. Only 20 of these Chinatown Wars DS Lites were produced.

Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3DS

This Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3DS features a black snakeskin exterior with a camouflage design on the inside.

Panasonic Q Nintendo Gamecube

The Gamecube was the first Nintendo console to utilize Optical discs. However, the PlayStation 2 had just recently launched using the more versatile DVD drive. Panasonic worked in conjunction with Nintendo to bring the Panasonic Q to the Japanese market, which featured a full DVD drive. Floundering sales rendered the venture a bust.

MTV Gamecube

5 of these airbrushed MTV consoles were produced to be given away in a contest.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Gamecube

This limited edition Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Gamecube was just as obscure as the game that it was made in honor of. This all-white console only saw 150 units come to market.

Pikachu N64

If you love Pikachu, you’ll love this console. A bit flashier than the Stadium version, this console features a raised Pikachu in all of his adorable glory and a Pokeball power switch.

This special edition Pokemon Stadium N64 shipped with a blue and yellow console, a matching controller, rumble pack, transfer pack, and a VHS featuring several episodes of the Pokemon anime.

Culdcept 3DS

Here is another console only given to the best player of a specific game. This Culdcept 3DS was given as a prize to the winner of a Nationwide Culdcept tournament.

Famitsu Game Boy Light

This clear-shelled Game Boy Light features some “not-so-family-friendly” sayings on the packaging that seem a bit out of place when you think about Nintendo. “Jack in! To that girl with your junction cable,” being one of them.

Iron Throne Xbox One

The Game of Thrones HBO series has come to an end, but you can still show your loyalty to Westeros with this awesome-looking Iron Throne Xbox One.

Metal Gear Solid V PS4

Speaking of the PS4, when The Phantom Pain released a few years back, this gorgeous MGSV-themed PS4 released alongside it. The red and gold color scheme was themed after Snake’s prosthetic arm, and it’s complete with that little Diamond Dogs logo in the corner.

20th Anniversary Edition PS4

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the classic PlayStation, this grey-themed PS4 was released in limited quantities. It invoked serious nostalgia for Sony fans who owned a PS1 back in the day.

Cuphead Xbox One

If you were lucky enough to snag one of these two years ago, hold onto it and never let it go. These custom painted Xbox Ones were given away during Cuphead’s initial launch event, and they look absolutely beautiful in bright yellow.
