Nintendo Switch

One of the star features of the Nintendo Switch reveal trailer was its showcasing of multiplayer. Now, multiplayer is nothing new to video games, but it was the circumstances that made it so special. The trailer showed two players enjoying a good game of Mario Kart on the portable screen of the Switch using a half of the controller, before we saw four players in a 2 v 2 NBA match across two Switches.

Being able to have two players play against one another on one portable console is an incredibly impressive feat. Especially when combined with such a perfect range of controller solutions. With Nintendo’s range of first party titles often providing some of the best multiplayer experiences around, being able to play with your friends whether they’ve got their own Switch or not is a clever means of playing into the strength of Nintendo’s software.
