After seeing the announcement for Metroid Prime 4, there was almost nobody predicting that Nintendo would also show a 2D Metroid title for the Nintendo 3DS, let alone a remake of an older title. Metroid: Return of Samus is a re-imagining of the 1991 classic that came out for the Game Boy, Metroid II: Return of Samus. The new 3DS game adds upon the original title by making gameplay smoother and features updated visuals to match the 3DS’ graphical fidelity. Metroid: Return of Samus launches for the Nintendo 3DS on Sept. 15, 2017. Getting two separate Metroid announcements in one day was surely a big surprise for fans of the franchise.
