E3 2019 Predictions: Nothing Can Replace TES VI, But Here’s How Bethesda Will Try

Fallout 76 Nuclear Winter and Wastelanders Updates Shown Off

Fallout 76 wasn’t great when it released back in November last year. Even the numerous beta sessions prior to its full release weren’t enough to enable Bethesda to get its ducks in a row for the multiplayer-focused wasteland adventure.

Heck, even Todd Howard admitted the criticism towards Fallout 76 was “well deserved”… yikes!

Since its initial release, though, Bethesda has continued to support the wasteland of Appalachia and those vault dwellers that have stuck around for the long-term.

The Stash limit for managing your inventory was increased, and the latest Wild Appalachia update added in a bunch of new quests, features, crafting systems, and more content in general for players to sink their teeth into.

Considering Bethesda pledged to support Fallout 76 just a few months back, it seems like a no-brainer, then that it’ll continue to do so, and the best place to make any kind of big announcement that’s going to turn people around on the game would be at E3 itself.

If Wild Appalachia was the beginning of Bethesda’s big plans for Fallout 76 in 2019, then the follow-up updates — Nuclear Winter and Wastelanders — are sure to up the ante once more.

We already know Nuclear Winter is going to add a new mode, high-level Vault Raids, and other yet-to-be-announced new features. On the other hand, Wastelanders, for the most part, remains a mystery.

We wouldn’t be surprised to see Bethesda blow the lid on both of these future updates for Fallout 76 at E3 2019, and perhaps even try and entice players to give it a go with the game going free-to-play for the week of E3.

DOOM Eternal Gameplay and Release Date

doom eternal

If there’s an FPS this console generation that is as satisfying to play as it is gory, it’s got to be 2016’s DOOM. Developed by id Software, the title was incredibly fluid and had us literally tearing the limbs off demons and chainsawing others in half.

It was a wonderful, gory bloodfest that everyone really should play. If you couldn’t tell… we really like DOOM.

So when Bethesda went ahead and announced DOOM Eternal during their conference last E3, myself and many others were delighted we’d get to return to hell to blast the crap out of more demons… and maybe rip off some more limbs, too.

Since then, it’s been fairly quiet for id’s sci-fi shooter, and we can only assume that’s because the developer’s been hard at work polishing the game up for a big blowout at this year’s E3.

Considering three tower blocks in LA have been taken over by a DOOM Eternal promo, and just today the official DOOM Twitter account tweeted out an E3 2019 teaser, we’re pretty sure we’ve got this one in the bag.

Exactly what it’ll entail, however, remains to be seen. We’d hedge our bets that we’ll get a gameplay demo of some sort to show off a range of new weapons and brutal executions, all rounded off by the reveal of a 2019 release date.

You want a narrower window than simply 2019? Fine, we’ll predict early October 2019.

Elder Scrolls Online Season of the Dragon Announcements

elder scrolls online, bethesda e3 2019 predictions

A staple of Bethesda’s E3 conferences ever since they began, and following the oh-so-enthusiastic lady who couldn’t contain her excitement back at E3 2016, we have no doubt that Elder Scrolls Online will return once again to E3 this year.

Following the release of the latest expansion Elsweyr earlier this week, packing in another massive chunk of content for players to sink hundreds of hours into, fans will no doubt be looking to the horizon for what’s to come next.

Bethesda has confirmed just as much just yesterday, and considering we’re still waiting for the unannounced Q3 dungeon pack and Q4 story zone, it’s a surefire bet that these are going to make up the bulk of Elder Scrolls Online’s time on-stage. Toss in a quick cinematic trailer, and perhaps some sort of celebration event for Elder Scrolls’ 25th anniversary, and you’ve got a wrap.

Wolfenstein Youngblood Trailer & Cyberpilot Gameplay

wolfenstein youngblood

Alas, this one admittedly isn’t quite as exciting as some of the other predictions for Bethesda’s E3 conference that we have here since we already know when we’re getting the co-op focused Wolfenstein Youngblood and the VR title Cyberpilot. Still, it’d be pretty great to get a reminder of what’s in store for players next month when they both release on July 26.

To make up the hour or so that we can expect Bethesda to take to the stage, it’s not too much of a stretch for us to suggest that we’ll get a trailer for each of the upcoming Wolfenstein titles, showcasing the different styles of FPS gameplay in each.

Plus, it gives Bethesda another chance to plug that Deluxe Edition of Youngblood that enables players to play with another player who doesn’t own the game completely free, while the world is watching, just over a month prior to the game’s release.

Seems like a no-brainer to us, but we’re still hyped to shoot some futuristic Nazis in the face all over again.

Evil Within 3 Announced, Gameplay Trailer Shown, Releases in 2019

bethesda e3 2019 predictions

Here’s one you probably didn’t think about. Tango Softworks has been rather quiet since the release of 2017’s The Evil Within 2, hasn’t it? Well, it looks like that silence is about to end, with The Evil Within 2’s Executive Producer Shinji Mikami quietly revealing over on Twitter that he’s heading to E3.

Of course, there’s no saying what Mikami is definitely heading to E3 for just yet, but we’ve got a few ideas.

The most obvious is that we’re going to get an announcement for The Evil Within 3. It’ll come with a  trailer to show us just what’s next in store for Mobius, STEM, Sebastian and the rest. Probably a lot of spooky monsters and jump scares, and some damn good gameplay to boot.

As the trailer finishes on a climactic look at some terrifying nightmare fuel creature, the screen fades to black, revealing an October 2019 release date.

Yes, yes, we know we said October for DOOM, too, but if we keep saying October 2019 for everything then one of them’s going to be right… right? But seriously, late October time to coincide with Halloween festivities seems about right.

Arkane Shows Off What Comes After Dishonored

arkane studios

Speaking of quiet developers under the Bethesda umbrella, Arkane Studios hasn’t been getting up to a whole lot since it finished work on Dishonored 2 back in 2016. Sure, we got the Death of the Outsider DLC in 2017 and Prey in the same year, and they’ve co-developed Wolfenstein: Youngblood alongside MachineGames, but if you ask us, it’s all too quiet from the talented folk over there.

It’s been a couple of years since Prey ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, kind of making it a prime candidate for a sequel. No, no, we’re not going to suggest an October 2019 release date for this one too.

Instead, if we’re lucky, we might get a glimpse of what’s next in our fight against the Typhon and we’ll go ahead and say a Spring 2020 release window.

On the off-chance that we’re not so lucky, perhaps we’ll just be given a very brief teaser, or just the announcement that Arkane Studios is working on Prey 2. Dishonored 3, as much as we’d love for it to happen, seems unlikely, though, as the series was described as “resting for now” last year.

An Elder Scrolls Remaster to Celebrate the 25th Anniversary

bethesda e3 2019 predictions

If there’s one prediction we’d love to see, but probably aren’t going to at Bethesda’s E3 2019 conference, it’s probably this one, but hear us out anyway. 2019 is the 25th anniversary of The Elder Scrolls series. That, if you ask us, seems like something to make a big song and dance about.

Problem is, outside of The Elder Scrolls Online, there hasn’t been all that much singing and dancing being done.

Following the somewhat lackluster reception to Bethesda’s big game last year –Fallout 76– and the fact that we’ve already been told that Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield won’t be showing up to E3 this year, we feel like the publisher probably needs something to round things off in a big way to get fans pumped. And what better way than to celebrate your series’ 25th anniversary?

If Elder Scrolls 6 isn’t showing up to the party, though, we can only, really, look in two directions –back, and to the side.

A spin-off of some sort could be possible, much like a Fallout 76… but we can’t see Bethesda going down that shaky route again while it’s still trying to fix up its multiplayer-focused wasteland adventure.

That only really leaves going back, but then really, is that so out of left-field to expect? We’ve already had Skyrim Special Edition, a port of it on the Switch, and a choose-your-own-adventure-style version gracing the Amazon Echo.

How about Oblivion finally gets spruced up and strutted out for the current gen consoles? Or Morrowind… or both?

Honestly Bethesda, we’re not fussy. We’ll take either… or both.
