Action-Packed Campaign

Modern Warfare hits us with a campaign that doesn’t skimp on the stark reality of war, the damage it does to human lives, and the problems that international politics can cause.

With Black Ops 4’s lack of a campaign, Modern Warfare’s is a breath of fresh air especially since it comes at us hard with an exciting story.

It’s essentially like watching an action movie with HD cutscenes, great graphics, and interesting characters.

Even more so, there’s plenty of things to do within each mission with a variety in gameplay.

Interesting Characters

From Kyle Garrick to “Alex” to Farah, the playable campaign characters are three dimensional, unique, and intriguing. Each has their own motivations that drive the actions they take and they each have a reason to take the events of the game personally.

The NPCs also have a depth that players can experience and feel throughout the campaign. Laswell, Hadir, Captain Price, and many of the other characters we encounter in the game add to the seriousness and immersion of the plot.

Without intriguing characters, Modern Warfare’s story would be pretty lackluster and the dark parts of the game would be seen as simple shock tactics.

However, every character brings something that makes you want to keep playing the game for hours.

Modern Warfare Series References and Nods

Modern Warfare treats fans of the original series with a number of references and nods to the O.G. trilogy. Granted, the game is a more or less reboot of the series so it would only make sense that some characters are around.

Without spoiling much of the game, we get many references and similarities to past missions like “One Shot, One Kill”, “Charlie Don’t Surf”, and “Blackout”.

Captain Price also isn’t the only familiar character we see with plenty of other fan favorites appearing at some point during the missions.

Of course, to see many of our favorite guys, you’ll need to play the game.

Multiplayer and Spec-Ops

For those of you more inclined towards multiplayer and other game modes, Modern Warfare delivers with numerous multiplayer maps to play and cooperative Spec-Ops missions that continue a bit of the story.

Killstreaks, upgrades, and fancy weapons all reappear in multiplayer and the return of Spec-Ops means you’ll get a bunch of cooperative opportunities full of fun action.

There is no Zombies game mode but Modern Warfare makes up for it with plentiful multiplayer and extra content.

That Post-Credits Scene

It’s going to be very hard to talk about this scene without spoiling a very important part of the game but we’ll be as vague as we possibly can.

Suffice it to say, this scene leads into the hints for the next game’s potential plot and many of the characters that may or may not appear.

It’s really just a tease for fans of the original trilogy and the fact that it appears at the end of the game practically has us vibrating with excitement for Modern Warfare 2.

Bonus: Gooselicker and Dirt Diggler

Perhaps the most important thing: There are two tanks in the campaign known as Gooselicker and Dirt Diggler that I would defend with my life.
