Drifter Bike – Days Gone
Days Gone’s world has plenty of things that want to kill you, and for the most part, your only way of escaping them is with Deacon’s bike. Of course, you can go on foot but Days Gone’s puts a huge emphasis on using the bike, for getting around the world, in combat, and for escaping.
The bike basically takes the place of your companion characters in Days Gone, and you’ll put a lot of time into it in terms of upgrading and care. As its name implies, drifting is a huge aspect to this bike as well, and once you get the hang of things you can just blaze through the world.
Much like the Regalia in Final Fantasy XV, Deacon’s bike just feels like an essential part of the Days Gone experience.
Master Cycle Zero – Breath of the Wild
Breath of the Wild didn’t need a motorcycle, but did Nintendo care about that? No.
As a reward for beating the game’s second DLC you can unlock the Master Cycle Zero, an insanely awesome glowing guardian bike that lets you traverse the world in an entirely new way.
The slick motorbike has an awesome design, and Link can even fight as he rides it, with the ability to swing his sword and fire arrows, just like when he’s on a horse.
It takes a bit of work to unlock, but blazing through the green fields of Hyrule on a motorcycle is as much fun as you’d expect.
Hardy Daytona – Final Fantasy VII
How does Cloud escape the confines of the Shinra building? By stealing a motorcycle and hitting soldiers with his sword while he rides it, that’s how.
The Hardy Daytona, as it’s called, sports and almost Steampunk-looking design illustrating just how “hardy” of a bike it really is. Of course, Cloud is instantly an expert on how to ride it, and with little to no effort can swing his massive Buster Sword at any soldiers that try to threaten him or his friends.
Who can forget the fantastic music track “Crazy Motorcycle” that accompanies it too. Although you only use the Hardy Daytona in one minigame section in the original game, it’d pop back up in the mobile game G-Bike, and Cloud continued his motorcycle riding exploits with another awesome bike, Fenrir, in Advent Children.
Shiva Sisters – Final Fantasy XIII
Final Fantasy didn’t stop using motorcycles with Final Fantasy VII, oh no, they got even more ridiculous with it. The bike in question is Snow’s summon in Final Fantasy XIII, the Shiva Sisters. That’s right, the twin Shiva sisters actually transform into a ridiculously cool motorcycle that Snow can ride around on.
Both functional and flashy, this is one of the most absurd concepts the series has ever seen, and each character’s summon in XIII actually has its own vehicle mode. Whether you’re riding around in battle, or seeing Snow use the bike in some stylish cutscene, this bike, somehow, fits the character’s own ridiculous style.
Cavalier – Devil May Cry 5
Dante had a pretty cool bike in Devil May Cry 3, but Cavalier puts that bike to shame. This crazy piece of tech was born from the body of a demon, and although Dante can ride it around like a souped-up bike, its real use is as a deadly weapon.
In a move only a Devil May Cry game could do, Dante splits the bike in half and uses each end like some kind of ridiculous giant sword. The wheels still spin while you use the weapon, so they can cause rapid fire damage to enemies.
For an even more ridiculous attack, Dante can use his Swordmaster style to hop on the bike and pop crazy wheelies or doughnuts to damage enemies. Let’s see any other character’s bike do that.
Slicecycle – Dead Rising 2
Capcom has a bit of a penchant for absurd motorcycle weapons it seems, as the Dead Rising franchise is also home to one. The very opening section of the game has you running around on this Frankenstein bike with two chainsaws strapped to its front.
The Slicecycles (fantastic name) are mainly used on the game show Terror is Reality, where contestants drive around killing and dismembering as many zombies as they can within a time limit.
Of course, you can also gain access to the bike, or craft it, in the world of Dead Rising 2, letting you ride around the game’s casino location to your heart’s content, slicing zombies in half all the while.
Ben’s Bike – Full Throttle
Full Throttle still remains the biker game, and one of the finest point-and-click adventures ever made. The game stars Ben, the leader of the Polecats Biker Gang, and after his motorcycle is sabotaged and explodes, it gets a tune-up to become the souped-up power bike you see above.
With a booster installed, Ben’s bike is the best on the road, and Full Throttle’s Mad Max inspirations are clear to see. Just one look at the crazy mufflers on that thing and you know it means business.
Maybe someday we’ll still see Full Throttle return.
Schpeltiger – No More Heroes
Travis Touchdown has a flair for the dramatic, and that’s on full display with his ridiculous motorcycle, called the Schpeltiger. This massive white monstrosity features into every No More Heroes game in some way, and sports ridiculous 30-inch tires.
On top of that, it comes with twin disk brakes, specially tuned suspenson (which it no doubt needs), and a long spin arm. It’s both functional and stylish, from the bright red pinstripes, to the four massive mufflers sticking off its end.
When your someone named Travis Touchdown you need a ride just as ridiculous, and boy does the Schpeltiger fit that bill.
Wario’s Chopper – Super Smash Bros.
Wario’s biker getup in the Smash Bros games isn’t just for show, as the villain has a sweet hog he can bust out in the middle of battle. You’ve got a be a pretty cool dude to conjure a motorcycle out of nowhere, and then ride it right into Mario’s face.
Wario’s bike just fits him so well, from the horrendously disproportionate front and back wheels, to the flame design, and the giant mufflers sticking off the back end.
It may not seem entirely functional, but boy if it doesn’t just scream Wario.
Mechano-Hog/Mekgineer’s Chopper – World of Warcraft
Mounts are a vitally useful item in any MMO, letting you quickly get around a game’s massive world. But you know what’s better than riding a unicorn or a griffon? Driving a devilishly cool mechanic motorcycle.
The Mechano-hog (Horde) and Mekgineer’s Chopper (Alliance) are two mounts that let you ride through the world of Azeroth in style. An even better feature, however, is the ability to add a sidecar on by inviting a player to your group, letting you and a friend to cruise around at your leisure.
One look at that picture above and you should have not doubt about this being one of the best bikes around.
