With Blizzard’s Overwatch League set to play its first preseason match on Dec. 6 and its inaugural regular season opening Jan. 10, fans have been wondering just what exactly the 12 teams will call themselves. Today, franchise owner Team Envy has finally sated that curiosity for its Dallas squad, which will be dubbed the Dallas Fuel.

“In choosing a name, we wanted to speak to our Texas roots, connect with the legacy of our partners Ken Hersh and the Hersh Interactive Group, and provide a rallying cry for local fans as esports continues to grow,” Owner and CEO Mike Rufail said in a prepared statement. “Fuel accomplishes that, and the Dallas Fuel is a team we’re proud to permanently plant in Texas.”

The Dallas Fuel will sport blue, gray, and black unis in alignment with the “Boys in Blue” nickname Team Envy has become known by in other esports leagues such as Rocket League and League of Legends. For their logo, the Fuel will use the blue flame alongside the bolded team name seen above.

“The logo and identity of the Dallas Fuel franchise recognize the heritage and strength of the energy sector in Texas and the business history of Ken Hersh,” added Managing Director Randy Chappel of Hersh Interactive Group, a major Team Envy investor. “A powerful spark of energy is what Hersh Interactive Group and the Dallas Fuel intend to bring to the esports industry. We are excited to be the home team for Dallas.”

Dallas is the second of the 12 initial teams to reveal its name and logo and first in the US. The Shanghai Dragons became the first named team last week. While Shanghai and Dallas try to get fans hyped for their teams’ inaugural seasons by revealing their names and logos, other teams have tried more…dubious methods.
