Ash, Misty, and Brock Look Kinda Weird in This Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution Trailer

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

If you haven’t been around the past few days, just be aware that Pokemon is having one heck of a week, in the best way possible. We got starter reveals for Pokemon Sun and Shield, a new Detective Pikachu trailer, and now, we have our first look at the full CGI remake of Mewtwo Strikes Back.

Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution is meant to be a retelling of the first live-action Pokemon movie, but this time, done entirely in CG. Yup, that means that you can watch all of Ash’s Pokemon cry for him, causing him to come back to life after being turned into stone, like you’ve never seen before, and 20 years later. I also would love to see how that Pikachu slap-battle looks in CG, because, you know? Why not?

You can take a look at the new teaser trailer for Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution down below! Let us know how you feel about the new look? Do you guys think Ash and friends look strange or are their clay-esque bodies fine for you?

Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution will be opening in Japan on July 12 of this year. No word on a western release window just yet, but as the movie comes closer to premiere, we’re sure we will be getting an update soon after.
