If you’re like a lot of first-time Legend of Mana players, you probably have no idea what the best map placement is. After all, the game tasks you with making this choice before you get any information on what it does, how it affects the gameplay, and whether or not you’ll be able to change it later.
That’s why we’ve compiled this guide on the subject. Below you’ll find info on what map placement affects, where the optimal placement is, and more.
What the Best Map Placement Is in Legend of Mana
To make a long explanation short, map placement affects where you can place artifacts and what portions of the world you’ll be able to unlock. This, in turn, affects what quests you’ll be able to complete, which shops you’ll have access to, and how much of the game you’ll be able to complete.
This means that you’ll want to choose a map placement that grants you the most land tiles possible with as few water tiles as possible. With this in mind, the best place to put your map is in the upper-right corner of the map, where you can position your map square to have as few as two water tiles.
We’ve included a screenshot of this portion of the world down below for your reference.
That’s all there is to it, really. It’s pretty annoying that the game doesn’t tell you how important this choice is, and you won’t benefit from placing it anywhere else in the world. So long as you place your map in this location though, you won’t have to worry about potentially missing out on any other aspects of the game due to poorly explained mechanics.
Hopefully this cleared up what the best map placement is in Legend of Mana. For more on the game, check out our full review of the recent remaster. There should also be a number of articles related to the mana series down below.
