Throughout your journey in Persona Q2 you’ll find numerous treasure chests. Some have incredibly useful items and others contain trash that’ll be sold as soon as you get back to the theater. Here’s how to open golden treasure chests in Persona Q2.

The first item you get from a golden treasure chest sets the tone for the rest of the game. The Healing Stone is an HP restoration item that can only be used in battle, but it never will disappear after being used. That one item lets you know that these special chests are well worth the effort of finding and unlocking.

Map Completion

Fully exploring every corner of the map is going to be the main way that you’ll unlock these chests. While wandering the labyrinths of Persona Q2 you’ll need to chart each corridor, wall, and tunnel in order to reach 100% on any given map. It’s not an easy task, but it’s well worth the prize that awaits you at the end.

Also, special icons do not need to be placed to count towards the completion percentage. The game only takes into account the amount of ground that you’ve mapped. Don’t try to get too smart. Covering the entire map in floor spaces won’t do you much good.

Play Coins

This neat little currency that builds up by walking around with your 3DS finally has a purpose again. That’s right, you can spend your play coins to open golden treasure chests in Persona Q2. Of course, there’s a big catch here.

You still need to explore each labyrinth thoroughly.  The number of play coins you must use to open one of these chests is determined by how much of the map you’ve explored. You can get it down to small single-digit numbers or you can pay a premium three-digit price. Either way you get the same item.
