Can You Play Ace Combat 7 in VR on PC? Answered
Ace Combat has returned with a brand new experience for current generation hardware, and it’s easily the best-looking game in the series. One cool feature is the game’s VR component, which allows players to experience combat from the perspective of a real fighter-jet pilot. But can you play Ace Combat 7 VR on PC? We’ve got your answer.
When Ace Combat 7 was first announced alongside PlayStation’s PSVR peripheral, it got plenty of folks excited. VR experiences are arguably best-suited to game genres in which players are naturally static, like racing games and flight sims.
And with many modern fighter planes using integrated helmet HUDs to track targets and fire weapons, VR seemed like a natural fit for a game like AC 7.
Unfortunately, if you’re a PC gamer, though, you won’t be able to use VR headsets like Oculus or HTC Vive. Ace Combat 7 does not support VR on PC. The mode is exclusive to Sony’s PSVR.
It’s a shame, certainly, but there might be good news moving forward.
A quick check of the reverse side of the game’s PS4 case details the PSVR functionality, and below it reads:
“VR Missions exclusive to PS4 until 1/18/20.”
This would seem to imply that the VR content won’t remain exclusive to PSVR forever. There’s a chance that PC headsets will be supported next year.
Of course, it’s still a blow that there’s no support as of right now, but at least it’s not a definite no for the future.
That’s all the information we have about whether you can play Ace Combat 7 VR on PC. For more useful tips and guides on the game, be sure to search Twinfinite.
