Fortnite Season 6 has been and gone, and that means it’s time for an entirely new season full of changes to the map, a shiny new Battle Pass teeming with cosmetics, and some tweaks and adjustments to items and weapons in the game. While we already know that some weapons and items weren’t to be in Fortnite Season 7 and have been vaulted, balloons have stuck around, albeit with some tweaks and adjustments to how they work. Here’s what’s changed with balloons in Fortnite Season 7.

In Season 6, balloons were introduced, allowing players to jump and float through the skies at varying heights and speeds. The more you had, the further into the sky you’d fly. However, once you reached the build limit in Fortnite, the balloons would gradually pop and see you slowly begin to descend back down.

Essentially, they were a pretty handy traversal tool, but without being able to fire weapons while using them, they were useful for little else. Well, Epic Games has made some tweaks and adjustments to them in Fortnite Season 7. We’ve broken these down below.

  • It’s now possible to use weapons and items when using balloons.
  • You can now only attach up to three balloons to your back, lifting off the ground when the third balloon is attached.
  • Pressing jumping while you’re in the air will cause the balloons to release one at a time.
  • Balloons stack size has been reduced from 20 to 10.

All of this essentially makes these traversal items that little bit more useful for players in Fortnite Season 7. No longer will you simply be a sitting duck as you float through the air. We personally can’t wait to see the shots that pro players manage to pop off while using balloons in Fortnite.

Outside of that, there’s not a whole lot else you really need to know about what’s changed with balloons in Fortnite Season 7. They may have been given a substantial change, but outside of simply being able to fire your weapons and only being able to attach three at a time, there’s not a whole lot else to run you through.
