How Old You Need to Be to Play Minecraft
Minecraft continues to be one of the biggest titles to be released in recent years, with millions of players around the world still crafting to their hearts’ content. For the few who haven’t played it and might want to get in on the action though, it’s worth stopping to see how old you need to be to play Minecraft.
At face value, Minecraft is a straight forward and unoffensive game. At the beginning of the title, players are dropped into a randomly generated world with nothing to their name. They must collect resources by breaking objects like trees, rocks and plants down into materials to craft tools and a shelter.
With time, players can gain enough resources to construct more elaborate equipments and structures. This can allow them to explore further into the world’s more dangerous depths, or build upon what they already have and continue to sculpt the world to their liking.
Minecraft is presented in a blocky, pseudo pixelated style that is both cartoony and captivating. There’s no blood or gore to speak of, and the violence is minimized to when the player strikes enemy characters or objects with their weapons.
That’s about all there is to the game. It’s incredibly straight forward, and anyone from 5 to 50 years old could find the game accessible, enjoyable and appropriate.
The ESRB shares this notion, having given Minecraft an E 10+ rating for fantasy violence. Though parents or perspective buyers can and should keep the 10+ rating in mind, the violence is minimal enough that it can be left up to the discretion of the potential buyer if they want a player below this age to play.
