How to Get More BAND Songs in Shining Resonance Refrain

Recommended Videos

After a decade away, Shining Resonance Refrain is finally bringing the series back to the west. Things are a bit different this time around, especially if you’re used to the older tactical RPGs from the Shining series. Along with a change in storytelling and aesthetic, Shining Resonance Refrain is a full-on action-RPG, with multiple playable party members and a number of different mechanics. One such mechanic is the B.A.N.D. (BAND) system, which essentially lets your party members team up to play a song that’ll enhance certain stats or cause an effect like reducing damage.

A BPM (Battle Performance Mana) gauge on the left side of the screen dictates how you can use BAND in Shining Resonance Refrain, and there are three different levels that correspond to how long the session will last. At the start of the game, you’ll only have access to one song to use in the BAND system, and you’ll need to play for a bit to get any more. Additional songs will be unlocked as you progress through Shining Resonance Refrain’s story, but you’ll need to get through the first few chapters before you get your second one. When using BAND in combat, after you’ve hit R1 simply hit up or down on the D-pad to scroll between all the BAND songs you have available.

When you aren’t in combat you can open the main menu with start and go to the BAND tab, which will let you select which character you want in the middle of the session. Whichever character you choose will alter the bonuses or effects of each song, so make sure to scroll through and see how each one changes. Combined with the equipment system and different playable characters, BAND lets you have a little more control over how you want your party to work in combat, so remember to use it.
