How to Sim to Next Appearance in RTTS in MLB The Show 18
Road to the Show (RTTS) is one of the MLB The Show 18’s most popular game modes for a number of reasons. First, you can take a created character (perhaps yourself) through the journey of starting off in the minor leagues and working your way up to “the show” – the majors. Also what’s great about RTTS is that you can bang through games much quicker than normal since you have the option to only play your character’s appearances. Which, if you’re anything other than a Starting Pitcher, generally goes quickly.
However, if you’re here, you might be thrown off by some of the options you have within a game of RTTS, Play by Play and Watch Game. These are other options you can peruse as well. In between appearances, as noted in the bottom right corner of the screen, you can press triangle to enter Play by Play mode. With this on, this sends you to the quick Play by Play screen after every appearance (which means no base running if you’re a hitter). From there, you can choose to play your upcoming appearance, skip it, or just skip innings and half-innings entirely. Choose this if you want to be selective about what appearances you play. There is also Watch Game which is access by pressing circle. Choose this if you want to go the other direction and role play actually being a member of the team and watching the game transpire from the dugout, only going out when it’s your turn to play. This includes watching every pitch as a base runner and fielder instead of it fast forwarding to something actually happening.
If you just want normal RTTS as you’ve likely grown accustomed to, make sure neither Play by Play or Watch Game is highlighted yellow on the bottom right of the screen. If it is, hit the appropriate button again to turn it off. With both of them off, you’ll just jump from appearance to appearance seamlessly. This is the default option if you don’t touch anything.
