The Sleeping Dogs Movie Adaptation Is Still Happening

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

Remember Sleeping Dogs? That awesome GTA-esque game about an undercover cop trying to bust the triads? Well, according to actor Donnie Yen, the movie is still happening. The actor posted a photo on his Instagram account, with a picture of himself in costume next to a screenshot with protagonist Wei Shen.

Sleeping Dogs was a bit of a sleeper hit when it was first released on the PS3 and Xbox 360. The game’s cop drama story was engaging and exciting to follow, and it even featured voice work from renowned actors like Emma Stone and Edison Chen. Donnie Yen himself is known for his roles in Rogue One and the Ip Man martial arts movies. Considering how heavily focused the game is on martial arts, Yen would certainly be a good fit for the role. The game has seen a re-release on Steam, PS4, and Xbox One with a Definitive Edition containing all of the previously released DLC and costume packs.

There haven’t been anymore updates about the movie itself, and we’re still not sure when exactly it’ll see its official release. We’ll keep you updated as more info comes our way.
