Pokemon GO Genders
While we did get to capture male and female Nidoran back when Pokemon GO first launched last year, it seems that the latest major update to the game has introduced genders to a lot of the other creatures out in the wild. For instance, if you check your Pokemon collection now, you’ll see that each of your Pokemon have a gender symbol next to their names, indicating whether they’re male or female.
At the moment, it doesn’t look like your Pokemon gender matters very much. Aside from specific Pokemon like Nidoran getting slightly different appearances when they’re evolved as a male or female, the rest of the Pokemon aren’t affected too much by this change. However, this could also very well be a sign of more features to come in Pokemon GO. Gender is an important factor in the mainline Pokemon games as they determine whether your Pokemon can be paired with another for breeding or not. With this new update, perhaps Niantic is planning to introduce Pokemon breeding to the game at some point. This is all speculation for now, but we’ll keep you updated as more info comes our way.
