How to Catch Pokemon in Pokemon Legends Arceus
If you’ve played Pokemon in the past, then you’re already familiar with one of the methods for catching these creatures. While you’re in battle, you have the option to throw a Poke Ball instead of ordering your ‘mon to do an attack. Like past games, weakening a wild Pokemon or inflicting status conditions like Paralysis or Sleep will help increase the likelihood that the catch will be successful.
Unlike past games, you can now sneak up on wild Pokemon or hide in tall grass by pressing B to crouch. Just toss out a Poke Ball at them and this will also increase the chance that they won’t break out. In order to throw, all you need to do is hold ZR, aim the reticule at the Pokemon, then let go of the button to release the Poke Ball from your hand. You can also lock on with ZL if you’re close enough. Just make sure you have a Poke Ball selected and not a Pokemon from your team. Hit X to swap between the two.
Sneaking up on a wild Pokemon isn’t the only way to catch one. You can also toss berries out to distract wild Pokemon and then they’ll become easier to catch. Just make sure you’re hiding when you throw a ball. If you miss or if the Pokemon breaks out, then they’ll become alert and you’ll have to battle them in order to add them to your team. But if you’re hiding, then you might get another chance to throw a Poke Ball.
