New World is an ambitious pirate-themed MMORPG developed and published by Amazon Games, and it has tons of exciting features such as large scale PvP wars, as well as separate economies in each region that are entirely player-driven. The game also has a rather robust gathering and crafting system, with plenty of materials you can try to farm. Here’s how to get clams and what they’re used for in New World.
Getting Clams in New World
Clams can only be obtained through fishing in New World, and they’re pretty uncommon. They’re definitely well worth the fishing effort, though, as they can be sold for a fair amount of money on the trading post, or be salvaged into more useful items.
First off, clams can only be obtained by fishing in saltwater spots. This means that you need to fish in the ocean, not the rivers or lakes, if you want to have a chance of getting them. In addition to that, using bait that gives you a boost to catching larger fish can actually work against you, so you might want to consider avoiding bait altogether.
There’s a fishing spot in Monarch’s Bluffs that serves as a fantastic hotspot for clams, though you do need to get your fishing trade skill up to level 34 first. We’ve indicated the location of the broad fishing spot in the screenshot down below, and it’ll become active every 30 minutes or so.
When it’s active (i.e. you see fish jumping out of the water), cast your rod for a chance to get a clam.
What They’re Used For
You’ll either want to salvage your clams in New World or sell them on the trading post. Salvaging a clam will always give you clam bait, which gives you a medium boost to catching bigger fish in freshwater. However, you also have a chance of obtaining a pearl whenever you salvage it.
Pearls can be slotted into your weapons or armor to give you the luck perk, which increases your chances of getting rare drops from enemies.
