Fighting your way out of the underworld is a fast-paced and action packed affair, but taking your time to look around and engage with the dangerous world is rewarding. While you’ll not come across it from the start, you can actually go fishing in Hades. So that you can get the rewards doing so offers, here’s everything you need to know about how to fish in Hades.
Fishing in Hades gives you fish, obviously, but you can turn them into the chef back at the House of Hades after a run to get some rewards. Fish can be turned in for Gemstones, Chthonic Keys, Nectar, and Darkness of differing amounts, which depend on the rarity of the fish.
If you don’t turn them in after a run, you’ll lose them, so don’t forget to do so after each time you die. You can check what the rewards for each one are here.
How to Fish in Hades
The first thing you need to do is purchase the Rod of Fishing from the House Contractor. It costs one Diamond and won’t appear in the purchase list right away. Of course, you need to beat the Bone Hydra boss in Asphodel (the second area) and get the reward from him.
Then, after unlocking enough items with Gemstone from the Contractor, who sits to the right of Hades himself, you’ll see the rod there to unlock. For us, it appeared after roughly 15 runs through Hades.
Then, purchase it and head out to try and escape the Underworld. Along the way, you’ll see glowing patches in water/lava in various places in the world. When by it, you can press R on Switch (E on PC) to fish in Hades.
You’ll cast your rod out and need to press the interact button again to reel it in once you’ve got a bite. The rod will bob in the water twice before a bite happens on the third, at which point you need to press R/E to catch the fish.
It kinda works like fishing does in Animal Crossing New Horizons, where the float bobs twice before you can catch it on the third. You’ll then be able to sell the fish next time you die.
That’s everything you need to know about how to fish in Hades. For more tips and tricks on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
