Beating Shadow Mitsuo in Persona 4 Golden

About midway through the game, the investigation team will finally make some solid progress with the murder cases and chase down Mitsuo Kubo in the TV world. However, Shadow Mitsuo is significantly tougher than all of the bosses you’ve faced thus far, and if you don’t know what to do, it’s easy to just let the fight drag on for a while.

The two important things to note about Shadow Mitsuo are that you need to break his shell in order to deal damage to him, and that he can act twice in a single turn. He loves spamming group spells and following up with Megidola if possible, so you’ll need to be careful with covering your party’s weaknesses.

In addition to that, he also likes inflicting Fear on characters and following up with Ghastly Wail for an insta-kill, which means that your priority should always be to remove the ailment when you can.

To remove the shell, you’ll need to deal damage until it falls off, and you’ll automatically get the chance to deal an all-out attack. After that, Shadow Mitsuo was use Whisper, Chant, and Prayer to completely rebuild the shell. Your goal here is to deal as much damage as possible during the rebuilding process, so you’ll want to buff your party right before you break the shell.

During the fight, Shadow Mitsuo will also give away his element by casting Wall spells on himself. For instance, casting Ice Wall means he’ll start using ice attacks on the party, and you’ll need to defend your party’s weaknesses appropriately.

This entire fight revolves around you managing your weaknesses properly and removing Fear immediately after it gets cast. If you do both those things, this fight just becomes a matter of slowly whittling down his HP so you can break the shell and continue to do damage.

That’s all you need to know about how to beat Shadow Mitsuo in Persona 4 Golden. Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more tips and information on the game.
