Fortnite Season 10 is upon us and if you’re excited for all of the new content (like us) then here are 5 things that you should be doing to prepare yourself for Aug 1, the day that everything will be changing in the Battle Royale title.
Clear Remaining Season 9, Birthday & Overtime Challenges
If there’s one thing you should definitely be doing each and every season that you’re grinding out in Fortnite, it should be to make sure you’re clearing all of the limited-time challenges, such as Weekly challenges, and any other special event challenges that pop-up throughout the season.
And yes, you should be doing that before Fortnite Season 10, too.
In the case of Season 9, that’s all 10 sets of weekly challenges, the new Birthday challenges, and the Overtime challenges to tide us over until Season 10.
Not only are there some cool cosmetics to unlock as part of the Season 9 Battle Pass, but there’s also an absolute ton of XP and cool other cosmetics to earn from the Birthday and Overtime challenges. What’s not to like about free stuff?!
Collect All Fortbytes & Get Singularity Styles
Once you’ve got all of the challenges cleared out of the way, you can begin working towards collecting all 100 Fortbytes (or at least the 90 needed to unlock the Singularity skin) before the end of Fortnite Season 10.
Some of these are simple, such as finding one inside a metal llama building, while others can be a bit trickier, such as solving the pattern puzzle around the back of the desert junkyard.
Fortunately, we’ve got guides for almost all of the Fortbytes that you can check out in our Season 9 guide wiki, so you shouldn’t have any problems getting these completed.
Why do we recommend you collect all the Fortbytes? Because once you have, you’re then free to seek out the various Singularity styles lying around across the map. Considering this is Fortnite Season 9’s big secret skin, it’d be a crying shame to miss out on it.
Work on Remaining Style Challenges
If you’re anything like me, you’ve been accruing a ton of different skins over the past few seasons, and now you’ve got about seven different ‘Style’ challenges that require you to earn an insane amount of XP in order to unlock a different color variation.
Do I care about 99% of said color variations? Not really, but I want to have those Style challenges completed all the same.
Besides, while Epic Games has said in the past that these style-specific challenges would carry over to future seasons, there’s no word on how long they’ll stick around for before being wiped off.
If you’ve still got styles to unlock for skins from a few seasons ago, we’d recommend getting them done sooner rather than later, just in case.
The best way to grind out a lot of these style challenges is to hop into a Squad or other team-based mode with other friends who have the Battle Pass.
Not only will you get an XP boost for playing with others, but they’ll also have an XP boost for their friends. Considering these Style challenges all require huge amounts of XP, it’s the perfect way to grind it out and have fun with friends.
Clear Hard Drive Space for Fortnite Season 10 Patch
This is one that you can leave until the day before Fortnite Season 10 day. In fact, you could do it the moment you go to sleep on July 31.
In fact, some of you probably won’t even need to do this, but for those of you with crammed hard drives on either your console or PC, you’ll want to make sure you’ve cleared enough space for a potentially hefty Fortnite Season 10 patch.
There’s no word on how large we can expect the patch to be at this moment in time yet, but with map changes, new weapons, items, and general tweaks to gameplay, not to mention a whole new Battle Pass filled with cosmetics, chances are it’s going to be pretty huge.
Don’t let yourself fall victim to a full hard drive, delete that sports game from last year to free up some space and be prepared for as soon as Fortnite Season 10 kicks off.
Enjoy the Map in its Current Form While You Can
Yes, yes, this is just a bit of a fun one for all y’all. Considering Fortnite Season 10 is seemingly shaping up to bring some pretty massive changes to Fortnite’s map, we’d advise enjoying everything it has to offer while you still have the chance.
Currently, there’s always the possibility that Fortnite’s map could return back to how it was prior to the meteor crash in Season 4, or at least bring some of the old, more popular named locations back to replace the current set.
Plus, with the potential hint that we’re getting mechs in Fortnite Season 10, chances are things are going to be drastically different in the new season.
Therefore, we think you should take some time now to appreciate this pre-mech era of Fortnite before it goes completely bat-shit crazy and we’re left wondering what the hell’s going on.
Oh, and when you’ve got some time to break from enjoying Fortnite in all its current glory, you might want to nip to the store and get some snacks to fuel your Season 10 grind sessions. You know it makes sense.
