Who V Is (Spoilers) in Devil May Cry 5
While Devil May Cry 5 stars the poster boy of the series Dante, and the headstrong Nero from DMC 4, it also introduces a mysterious new man named V, who’s the game’s third playable character. The true identity of V is one of the game’s big mysteries, and you won’t find out until quite late in the game. However, if you’re looking to find out sooner here’s who V is in Devil May Cry 5.
*Spoiler Warning* By discussing V’s true identity we’ll be spoiling one of the major plot points of Devil May Cry 5, and some of its most important story elements. If you’d rather find all of this out for yourself turn away now. This is your last warning.Â
All of the events of Devil May Cry 5 are set in motion when V comes to Dante’s agency and asks him to undertake a new demon-killing job. V is also responsible for tracking down Nero and bringing him onto the mission as well.
V can use three different demon familiars in battle, which Dante finds strikingly familiar, and at times his hair turns white while summoning Nightmare. While he is a brand new character, V has some direct ties to the rest of the franchise, and if you’re a fan you’ve likely already figured everything out.
That’s right V is Vergil, the demonic brother of Dante and a core villain for most of the series. To be more specific, V is half of Vergil, the human part of him. Before the events of Devil May Cry 5, Vergil’s broken body tracked down Nero and ripped off his demonic arm, which held the power of Yamato.
Using the power of Yamato, Vergil cleaved his soul in two splitting his demon half from his human half. The demon half turned into Urizen, the one who summoned the Qliphoth and started the attack on Red Grave city. Meanwhile, V realized the horrible mistakes he’d made and tracked down Dante and Nero to stop the Qliphoth.
What happens past that, however, we’ll let you see for yourselves by playing the game.
That’s everything you need to know about who V is in Devil May Cry 5. For even more tips and info make sure to search Twinfinite, and take a look at our Devil May Cry 5 guide wiki.
