Funimation Productions, who hold the international distribution rights for the show’s third season, have organized a theatrical event involving the premiere of the first episode of season 3, preceded by the season 2 recap movie titled The Roar of Awakening. The premiere screening will show both the movie and the season 3 premiere episode in Japanese with English subtitles on July 10, with an English dubbed version playing the following day July 11. Tickets will be able to be purchased in advance online starting June 8.

Attack on Titan is an anime series following the lives of Eren Yeager and his close friends in the Survey Corps, a group dedicated to exploring the world outside the walls of the few remaining human cities, and defending what is left of humanity from the massive, mysterious monsters known as Titans.. The series has been praised for its gripping character drama and dark, yet engaging world-building mystery plot, and intense, dynamic action sequences among other things.

The series gained popularity in Japan and the West quite quickly, leading to several light novels, a spin-off parody series mocking the serious nature of the main show titled Attack on Titan: Junior High, and more than a few video games. Just a few months ago PC and console gamers alike were treated to Attack on Titan 2, which adapts the first two seasons of the show, and released to generally positive reviews.

Funimation will soon have a fully updated list of the 130 selected theaters in both the United States and Canada that will be screening the event posted on their official website. You can watch a subtitled trailer for Attack on Titan season 3 right here.
