In a video release, prolific NBA alumnus and NRG investor Shaquille O’Neal was joined by pop star and actor Jennifer Lopez, the NFL Oakland Raider’s running back Marshawn Lynch, as well as media personality and former NFL defensive end Michael Strahan.

Lopez, Lynch, and Strahan join a growing list of celebrities who have invested in NRG Esports, including MLB alumni Alex Rodriguez, and Ryan Howard.

The four celebrities and business giants spoke in turn, speaking about the excitement surrounding the new OWL San Fransisco roster.

NRG Esports’ OWL season one roster is now comprised of support player Daniel ‘dhaK’ Paz, tank player David ‘nomy’ Ramirez, tank player Matthew ‘super’ DeLisi, dps Andrej ‘babybay’ Francisty, dps player André “iddqd” Dahlström, dps Dante “Danteh” Cruz, and Jay “sinatraa” Won.

The reveal video also included a slight joke with current free agent Jared “zombs” Gitlin, who appeared briefly in the video before being overtaken by a logo used within Overwatch by the character Sombra, know for her play of the game intro that similarly lets another player briefly take the stage before ‘hacking’ the play of the game reel for herself.

NRG Esports has had a long-standing history within Overwatch esports, becoming one of the first teams officially announced as members of the Overwatch League in July of this year. NRG currently also supports players and teams in Counter Strike, For Honor, Hearthstone, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros, Smite, Vainglory, and Vainglory, and World of Warcraft.

As we near the official starting date for OWL season one on January 10, 2018, more and more details about the teams and players involved in its inaugural season will be revealed.
