Gone Home

The October 2017 free games offering from Xbox Gold subscriptions isn’t exactly the strongest, but it could be a good snag for players who are more into story-driven and puzzle games. The two big titles for this month are Gone Home: Console Edition and The Turing Test. Gone Home doesn’t really need any introduction. Developed by Fullbright, the game puts players in the shoes of a young woman who returns home and finds that everyone is gone. You’re then tasked with exploring the large, slightly creepy house, and figuring out exactly what happened when you were gone. The story is told through little narration bits from the character’s younger sister, and it’s a pretty gripping and immersive experience overall.

The Turing Test was released last year, and is a puzzle game that follows the story of Ava Turing as she excavates Jupiter’s moon. Things are not as they seem, though. There’s a deadly mystery to unfold here, and it involves a sentient AI and a series of tough puzzles to get through.

The other two free games available this month are Rayman 3 HD and Medal of Honor: Airborne. They’re a little dated at this point, but still worth checking out if the other titles don’t really appeal to you.

  • The Turing Test
  • Rayman 3 HD
  • Medal of Honor: Airborne
