Microsoft’s biggest exclusive game of the year, Gears of War 4, is finally available on Xbox One and PC, but some Windows 10 PC users might find themselves temporarily unable to play The Coalition’s third-person shooter.
Digital Trends reports that a new Windows 10 build that could prevent your rig from launching some of the biggest Windows 10 Store games has begun deploying to some users. The update brings upgraded touchpad controls, some cosmetic makeovers, feature changes and bug fixes. But what good is all that if you can’t just play your damn games?
ReCore, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, and Killer Instinct could all potentially fail to launch for users with the new Windows 10 build installed.
According to GameSpot, The Coalition is already looking into developing a fix for Gears of War 4, at least. “We are actively working with the Windows Store team to investigate some instances where users are unable to initiate or finish their download,” reads a statement from the developer.
Gears of War 4 released on October 11 and became the first game in the series to be available for PC, or any platform other than the Xbox 360, for that matter. In his review for Twinfinite, Chris Jecks wrote that it was “one game that every Gears fan needs to own.”
