Just before E3, 343 Industries made an announcement that likely disappointed rabid Halo fans around the world: A new Halo game wouldn’t be shown at E3 2017. Sure enough, the game didn’t make an appearance during the show, which wasn’t too surprising, but it doesn’t appear that the game is coming anytime soon.
According to a new blog post on the official Halo site, any news about Halo 6, no matter how minuscule, is worlds away. According to 343 Industries, the company won’t be “talking about Halo’s next major title for quite some time.” The blog went on to state that this doesn’t mean Gamescom or PAX.
“Trust us, when we’re ready to begin pulling back that proverbial curtain, you’ll know. It won’t be soon.” This is a true statement of course, especially since any time we hear Halo news, it comes in a massive wave. Halo 6’s initial announcement is going to take the internet by storm as soon as we hear anything, so rest assured that you’re not missing out on anything.
It looks like the next installment is going to take some time, so you might want to kick back and spend some time playing through the other Halo games to get caught up. Halo: The Master Chief Collection is a great way to get started doing that. It contains Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4, as well as the campaign mode of Halo 3: ODST. You’ll have to buy Halo 5: Guardians separately, but that’s a nice chunk of gaming to hold you over for a while.
Lucky for you, there’s a whole lot of other excellent shooters out there that should be able to keep you in business until your appetite for all things Halo going forward is sated.
